September 12, 2016 The Show de Talentos, versión: Los Reyes
Hey all! This week was an adventure. haha
Hna. Soto got sick for her first time on the mission! Wahoo! ;) No, but she's fine now. She just had a few stomach problems, but she's all good to go and working hard.
We had house checks too, we cleaned the house a ton in preparation, and I got a 10 out of 10! yaaay! I love house checks. =)
We also started giving English classes and piano classes. We had a pretty good group for the first week, and we just hope that it keeps growing!
And we had our ward talent show! It went really well. The Relief Society performed a couple of dance numbers, the Bishop and his wife sang a couple of duets, an investigator sang a couple of songs, Hna. Soto and I sang as she played the piano, and a few kids performed their talents as well. =) It was awesome.
We also had a zone activity today where we all went to an institute building to ´play air hockey, ping-pong, fooseball, and such. It was fun. =)
I'm coming down with a sore throat, and I have trouble talking right now, I'll be fine, I'm just worried because a 70 is going to come this week and he might interview all of the leaders of the mission, and WHAT IF I CAN'T TALK! Pray for me and my health, please! haha It'll all turn out fine, but we'll see how that goes.
This week, we had a few lessons with an investigator, Maria Dolores. She's an amazing woman who has a ton of faith. She works on Sundays, but wants to keep the Sabbath day holy, so we fasted with her this last week so that she can have the strength she needs to keep God's Commandments. She's really great and is progressing so much! She's very receptive to the Spirit and we're just praying so much that all will keep going well with her. Pray for her too, please!
Hola everyone! This week
went well. We're learning and growing and loving it. =)
This change, I'm the
Sister Training Leader for 3 companionships, and with each of the girls, we're
going on divisions, so 6 days on divisions, and then we have 2 with our sister
training leaders, so at the end of these 42 days of the change, 8 of those days
will have been on divisions. It's gonna be awesome. We did one this last week
with some sisters who are just ROCKSTARS! They work so hard and help me to do
so as well! I sure love learning from them!
This week we had a
leadership council, that went well. I forgot to bring my journal here to the
internet, so I can't remember a lot of what I learned, but one thing that stuck
was that we, as leaders, should lead, correct, and guide though true knowledge
and love for these people. That's one of the ways that the Savior taught. We
talked about how leading by obligating can bring a lot of results, but it's not
the way of the Lord, which should be our goal. So, our goal as leaders should
be to help these people to choose the right by their own agency and choice and
desire. D&C 58: 28-29. The council we had helped me a lot, I sure enjoyed
Hna. Soto and I are
preparing a number for the Talent Show we're having this week, and I have to
sing a high F, which is at the end of my range, so we're working on that right
now. haha wish me luck!
I love the fact that
this Gospel isn't meant to be lived alone! This life isn't meant to be endured
or enjoyed alone either. That's why we have families! That's why we have the
church! That's why we seek out the best friends! I am so blessed on my mission
from great friends and companions and a great family! They help lift me and
bless me so much! How great is our Heavenly Father in helping us to know that
we are never alone! I hope that each of you will accept the help that others
offer, and strive to be the kind of person who lifts other up instead of
tearing them down, and to surround yourself with those kinds of people as well.
I sure love you all, and
I testify that thanks to this wonderful plan, and thanks to Christ's sacrifice,
we are NEVER alone! In the sacred name of Jesus Christ, amen!
Enjoy your week,
From the leadership
conference. That's Hna. Gamero & Hna. Sanchez.
Hey y'all! Sorry I didn't really have time to write last week, but I hope you enjoyed the pictures! If you
couldn't tell, I'm training again! I'm very happy to be training, because the new missionaries always come
with so much energy and excitement to the mission! And passing over the material that I teach them, always
helps me to remember the basics that I sometimes forget.
My seconds "daughter" is Hna. Soto. She is from WoodsCross Utah and also learning Spanish. It was SUCH
a surprise for me when I found out that out of the three sister trainers, I was the only American, and I was
chosen to train the only American! But don't worry, we're really doing our best to be practicing our Spanish
as much as we can.
This last week, we met a new family that we'd contacted in the street. As we passed by for the
appointment, the mom sat down at the table, ready to learn, and her two younger boys (9 yrs. and 6 yrs)
were on the nearby couch, playing on the ipad. We invited them over, and the 6 year-old said no, but
the 9 year old said yes and passed the ipad over to his brother and came to sit with us. During the lesson,
we asked the mom why she was willing to listen to this message, and we asked the boy why he was willing
to drop the ipad for this lesson. He simple told us, "Well, it's because this is more important, right?".
I LOVE little children! They are SUCH great examples to us! So this week, I invite you all to find a way to
follow the example of this little boy in your life. Drop something less important, for something more
important. I promise that as you do, you will be happy that you did. The more important and MOST
important things in this life are the only ones that bring true satisfaction. Things like our family, and
our relationship with and obedience to our Heavenly Father. I testify of this principle in the name of
