Hasta ver...

Okay. I cannot believe it, but the end has come, and I am in the process of being a very real witness of the fact that "all good things must come to an end". *sigh*

I am so happy to have been a missionary for our Lord, Jesus Christ here in beautiful México. I love the people. I love the language. I love the culture. I love the food. I love their faith. I love the Gospel. I love our Savior, Jesus Christ.

I have learned so many things from my time here, that I will value and cherish for the rest of this life, and going into the next. My testimony has been tried and grown, I now better know of the truthfulness of this Gospel, and of the realness, and of the love of Christ.

I know that this Church is Christ's only true church. I'm positive. Not only from my studies, but from confirmations that I have received from the Holy Spirit. I know that the Gospel blesses families, that God is our loving Heavenly Father, and that through Jesus Christ, we can be cleansed from our sins and return to live with Him again. This message is the most important that I have had the opportunity to share because it is true, and because it changes the eternal desination of our souls, and our families.

I testify of the importance of obedience. It is a law. I now do not believe that obedience is only an action. I believe that it is more, and it comes from deeper. It's loving God enough to think of Him first, and then to act, based off of what He has asked of you. I know that obedience brings blessings, and exact obedience brings miracles. Miracles are real. They are happening every day. The blessings ALWAYS come, because they are based on laws that God himself established.

I love you all very much. I thank you for all of your support, cards, packages, prayers, and love. I know that Christ is our Savior. This is His work. And I share it in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Can't wait to see you all. =) Have a happy week.

Kevin and Arely

Hey all! Sorry I have kind of stunk at writing recently, I've been pretty busy. But I still love you! And I've got to tell you all about a few of the things that happened this last week!

On Saturday, we had a lesson with two investigators who have a baptismal date for february 11th, Kevin and Arely. They are just the greatest. They are a testimony to me that God really does prepare His children to come to know and receive the Gospel. On Tuesday, my companion gave them the "Law of Chastity" pamphlet to read to prepare for our next lesson with them. Saturday, we had to lesson, and they were so excited to tell us that it had blessed them so much and that they'd only lived it for 4 days! I was confused, they are legally married, so I asked them how? The husband told us that he now is watching his thoughts whenever he sees an attractive girl, and that they are now filtering what they see. They don't spend as much time on Facebook, or in YouTube, where they realized that they were seeing things that were against the law of Chastity. The husband said that he now feels more "free", and that he feels more love for his wife, Arely. They have an adorable little toddler daughter, and they only have a little over a year as a married couple. It was sooo beautiful to see how the Law of Chastity (the law of sexual purity in thoughts, intentions and actions) is SOOO real and brings some very real blessings to not only single-people, but to married couples as well. What surprised me more than anything, is that Arely told us that she had NEVER heard of the Law of Chastity! NEVER! And her husband said that he hadn't either. They have BOTH grown up in very Christian homes, with some very religious families, who go to church ofter. He is part of a Christian band! And they had NEVER heard of this law, that to break is the 3rd biggest sin! That just drove me nuts! And helped me to understand of the IMPORTANCE of this message that we bring to the world of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Living the Law of Chastity is a commandment that living can bring SO much light and blessings to your life and to your family! I KNOW that to be true! We are surrounded by pornography, and media telling us that lowering our standards is okay, and that living the law isn't so important. I TESTIFY that BREAKING the law of Chastity will bring darkness, guilt, shame and suffering to your life and to the lives of your loved ones. We all need to be examples among the believers! And help the world to know of the joy that living the Gospel including the Law of Chastity brings to our lives and to our families! I love you all so so much!

Another great thing that happened this week, is that we met a new investigator, Brenda. We had one lesson with her, invited her to come to church this Sunday (as we do with EVERYONE) and she CAME!!! And she brought her two kids of 8 and 10 years of age! AND she brought her dad! Who it turns out is a LESS-ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE CHURCH! She believes that he fell away because he was the only member in the family and because her mom is very Catholic and he got tired of doing it alone. But it was SOOO great to see them all at church! And another investigator, Hortensia, came to church for the first time, and LOVED it. *sigh* I love it when people come to church. It's EXACTLY where God would have us to be.

I love you all so so much! I'll be seeing you!

La última llamada

Hey all! Hope that you all enjoyed your Christmas and New Year's! I know I did! This week has been AMAZING! Very emotional for me.

Seeing as I've returned TO ONE OF MY OLD AREAS, it's been SOOO great to see the converts and the members that I came to love so much again. I still haven't seen the Bishop, seeing as he and his family are away on vacations, so I'm excited to see them again this next week.

It's kind of awesome being able to have changes, go to a different area, and already know where everything is. I feel like the Lord wanted to make sure that I didn't have any excuses not to give my ALL this last change!

I want to share with you all something amazing that happened this week:

My companion and I, Hna. Gomez, were contacting and looking for people that we have the addresses of, and a yound woman passed by us. I didn't think much of it, I took note of her, but I felt like we were in a hurry, and that was that. Later, that same day, I saw her again. And I have a rule that if I see someone twice, I NEED to contact them! God's trying to tell me something! So I went up and we presented ourselves to her. She seemed pretty rebellious, so she took me for surprise when she accepted that we visit her the next day. We took down her information and continued the day.

The next day, some plans had fallen through, we were running a little late and decided to call this contact to see if she really was going to be home, or to confirm the appointment. She didn't answer. We couldn't get through, and my companion mentioned that she probably isn't home, or that she probably gave us a bad number (or that she lied to us about her number), but I remembered her reaction, in letting us visit her, and I said "Let's just check and see". So we went over to the cul-de-sac type place where she lives. Here, those cul-de-sacs are called "privadas" and they're usually locked at the entrance. Which can make proselyting a little harder. So we got to her privada, and it was open! So we were passing in the entrance as some youths and an adult were leaving, it sounded like the adult and one of the young women were arguing. My companion said, "wait!" is that her? I stopped, looked back, and noticed, why yes. Our appointment was leaving with her friends! And actually, she was the one arguing with her dad! She ended up leaving, promising that this time she was going to get back early, and on-time, and her dad, started heading back to the house, with a face of obvious concern and frustration for and with his daughter. So we contacted him. We let him know who we are, and that we had talked with his daughter just the other day. The mom came out, we talked a little bit, and they invited us into their home. While there, they explained to us the concern and worry that they feel for their daughter who has, little by little, been getting further and further from them, and from what they know is correct. We assured them that God loves them, and that through their efforts, they can see many good changes in their family. That as they come closer to God, He will help them, even with this big trial that they are facing. At the end, they thanked us, we put an appointment down where we can pass by with the whole family, united, and they let us know that they are so grateful, and that they know that we were sent by God just when they needed us. That with us came a great feeling of peace and calmness. We ended with a prayer, and left.

That was SUCH an amazing experience. I am so grateful to be an instrument in the Lord's hands out here in México. Please pray for this family! And for my companion and I so that we can follow the Spirit's promptings to help this family! I love you all! Have a great week and a great 2017!
